Northampton Town continued their troubled form as they lost 1-0 at play-off chasing Bradford City.
Stephen Humphrys scored the only goal of the game for the Bantams, in a result that condemned the Cobblers to a fifth consecutive League One defeat.
With six games of their season remaining, Northampton sit 23rd, having failed to win any of their last 9 matches. They are now 11 points from safety.
Despite their recent troubles, Northampton did make a bright start, with Sam Hoskins having a strike blocked and Cameron McGeehan seeing one effort saved by Bradford keeper Sam Walker, with a further strike by the Northern Irishman missing the target.
But the Bantams would open the scoring in the 14th minute. Bobby Pointon’s cross fell the way of Humphrys, who duly got the ball over the line to put the home side ahead.
Lee Burge would make a good save to keep out Max Power’s firm hit, while after the break, Pointon headed over from close range.
A decent chance nearly brought Northampton level when Dean Campbell hit the crossbar, but the Cobblers were unable to create opportunities in the closing stages.
Burge would make another stop to thwart Power late on, but it was ultimately Bradford’s day as Northampton’s wait for a win continues.
The Cobblers will go again on Easter Monday when they host Wigan Athletic, with the Cobblers knowing time is running out to pull off a great escape.
