People facing difficult financial choices this winter will be able to access free warm clothing thanks to the launch of this year's Coat Collection Campaign.
Cllr Last donates a coat to the coat rack in the reception at One Angel SquareThe campaign is encouraging people to donate unwanted winter coats that are clean, in good condition and ready for a second life. Both adult and children's coats are welcome.
All coats collected will be distributed through Customer Hubs between October and February to support people who may otherwise struggle to afford warm winter clothing during the coldest months of the year.
Everyone is urged to check wardrobes for coats that are no longer needed but still have plenty of wear left in them. A simple donation could make a significant difference to a local family this winter.
Cllr Andrew Last, Cabinet Member for HR, Corporate Services and Regulatory Services, said: "As temperatures fall, many people face difficult choices between heating their homes and meeting other essential costs.
"We all need help sometimes, and this campaign is a simple but effective way for us to come together and support others in our community.
"If you have a winter coat that is still in good condition but no longer needed, please consider donating it.
"Your generosity could help keep a child or adult warm throughout the winter months."
Clean, warm, wearable coats can be dropped off at any of our customer hubs which is where anyone in need of a pre-loved coat can also pick one up. Just ask one of our customer advisers.
