Fire crews navigate indoor play centre in simulated gas leak exercise

Crews from Kettering and Rothwell Fire Station took part in a training exercise at Tigers Indoor Play in Kettering, simulating a gas leak to test their response to a complex emergency.

The crews were tasked with locating and rescuing 12 ‘casualties’ that were positioned through the maze-like play equipment.

Wearing breathing apparatus, the firefighters navigated the unique environment, climbing stairs, manoeuvring through confined spaces and raised levels to successfully reach each casualty.

Adam Rawlins, Crew Manager from Kettering Fire Station lead the exercise.

He said: “Exercises like this are invaluable for our crews. We’re really grateful to Tigers Play for giving us the opportunity to test our skills in realistic environment and prepare for scenarios we might face.

“We always hope that we never have to attend incidents like this, but we are ready and prepared to respond effectively if we do.”
