Planetarium Go! invites audiences of all ages to explore the wonders of the universe inside a large spherical dome. Visitors are surrounded by a 360º screen where astronomy and science films come to life, taking them on an unforgettable journey through space. From distant galaxies and planets to extraordinary cosmic phenomena, each projection is designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and a sense of discovery.
Running from 29 May to 21 June, the project is a partnership between West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) and Planetarium Go! which brings science, technology, and entertainment to the heart of Northampton. The mobile dome offers an immersive experience for families, schools and visitors, bringing STEM subjects to life through engaging 20–30 minute films.
We’re thrilled to welcome Planetarium Go! to Northampton Market Square. This is exactly the kind of creative activity that supports our local economy, brings families into the town centre, and strengthens West Northamptonshire’s reputation as a must-visit destination.
Following the huge success of last year’s Northamptonshire Day, winter ice rink and festive events, this initiative is another exciting step in our strategy to increase footfall and spend in the town centre, support local businesses, and build community pride.Cllr James Petter, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Local Economy, Culture and Leisure at WNC
Planetarium Go! aligns closely with the Council’s Economic Growth Strategy and the wider Discover Northamptonshire campaigns, reinforcing the value of innovative experiences that complement existing market traders and enrich the visitor offer. The project also delivers clear community benefits, offering opportunities for learning and engagement for local schools and families.
We are delighted to be partnering with West Northamptonshire Council to bring this unique pop-up planetarium to Northampton. The Council has been incredibly supportive in helping make this event possible, and we’re excited to offer residents and visitors the chance to experience something truly special.
We chose Northampton for its central UK location and its impressive Market Square, which provides the perfect setting for this immersive attraction. We’ve already seen an outstanding response at our Battersea launch, the first stop on our five-location UK tour, and we’re looking forward to arriving in Northampton later this year. We’re particularly keen to work closely with local businesses and market traders to ensure the planetarium delivers real benefits for the community and supports the local economy.José Jiménez, CEO of Planetarium Go!
