Eligible households across West Northamptonshire can now benefit from a new Warm Homes: Local Grant, which provides funding for energy saving home improvements to help residents reduce bills, improve home comfort and cut carbon emissions.
West Northamptonshire Council has been allocated £2.6 million over three years through the Government’s scheme, which supports low-income households, those receiving certain means tested benefits, or residents living in designated priority postcode areas.
The funding can be used for a range of energy efficiency upgrades including insulation, draught proofing, smart heating controls, and low carbon heating systems, for both on gas grid and off-grid properties. The scheme applies to homeowners, or tenants in privately rented homes in England as well as homes with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rated D – G and households on low incomes (total household income of £36,000 or less), receiving means tested benefits, or living in specified priority postcode areas.
A full list of eligible postcode areas is available on the Council’s website.
With many households continuing to feel the impact of rising energy costs, this grant offers practical support to help residents keep their homes warmer and more affordable to heat.
This scheme will make a real difference for those who need it most, helping to make their homes more energy efficient and in turn reducing their costs.Cllr Nigel Stanfield, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Waste at WNC
The scheme is being delivered locally in partnership with Sureserve Energy Services UK Ltd, who will assess eligibility and manage installation of approved measures.
