Temporary parking changes affecting St John’s Square, Daventry

A section of Daventry’s St John’s Square car park will temporarily close later this month to accommodate building work at the town’s nearby leisure centre.

Access arrangements to the car park, which is located behind The Abbey Centre and Moot Hall, will also be changed for motorists and pedestrians so that construction materials and contractor cabins can be sited near to the centre.

The changes will be in place from Friday 28 August until work is completed in April, affecting about 28 of the 62 parking spaces available. During this time access to St John’s Square will be via Chapel Lane only, with Abbey Street closed except to pedestrians visiting The Abbey.

People will still be able to use other sections of St John’s Square car park along with over 800 other free spaces available nearby across the town centre parking areas. All Council-managed car parks in Daventry town centre offer free parking within the time restrictions displayed on car park signs.
