Updates on fire at Earlstrees Industrial Estate in Corby

Update – 15.00 – August 11, 2026

We have made significant progress in tackling the fire at Earlstrees Industrial Estate in Corby, which started just before 2pm yesterday (August 10).

Although there is still smoke issuing from the site, and our advice remains to close windows and doors if you are nearby, we have extinguished much of the fire – and are currently using on-site machinery to help us damp down remaining hotspots.

We have requested with Highways that Gretton Brook Road be re-opened shortly.

Despite the progress we have made, we anticipate that the Fire Service will continue to have a presence on site over the next 24 hours monitoring hotspots and making sure that temperatures are safe.

A fire investigation to determine a cause will take place as soon as it is safe to do so.

Update – 11.00 – August 11, 2026

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service remains at the site of a fire at the Earlstrees Industrial Estate, which started in Corby yesterday afternoon just before 2pm (August 10).

We still have three fire engines at the scene. Firefighters continue to try and extinguish the fire involving a large amount of recycling waste at one commercial premises, and which has spread to some shipping containers at a neighbouring commercial site.

There is still a significant amount of smoke issuing from the site, so residents and nearby businesses are urged to keep their windows and doors closed for the time being.

Gretton Brook Road continues to be closed this morning, and we anticipate we will be firefighting for some considerable time today. We appreciate the impact this will have on local businesses and residents and would like to thank them for their patience as we continue to prevent this fire from spreading further.

At this stage, it is still too early to confirm what the cause of the fire was, but an investigation will take place as soon as it is safe to do so.

We still have four fire engines and an aerial appliance at the scene. Firefighters continue to try and extinguish the fire involving a large amount of recycling waste at one commercial premises, and which has spread to some shipping containers at a neighbouring commercial site.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is still in attendance at a fire on Gretton Brook Road, Earlstrees Industrial Estate in Corby, after being called shortly before 2pm (August 10).

Ten fire engines and two aerial appliances are currently on scene tackling around 500 tonnes of recycling waste that is on fire.

The incident is expected to be scaled down in the next few hours, but crews are expected to remain on scene overnight and into tomorrow.

Gretton Brook Road remains closed by Northamptonshire Police.

Nearby residents are asked to please close their windows and doors due to the plume of smoke and to please avoid the area.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is currently in attendance at a fire on Gretton Brook Road, Earlstrees Industrial Estate in Corby, after being called shortly before 2pm (August 10).

Ten fire engines and two aerial appliances are currently on scene tackling around 500 tonnes of recycling waste that is on fire.

Northamptonshire Police are also on scene to assist closing the road and crowd control.

Nearby residents are asked to please close their windows and doors due to the plume of smoke and to please avoid the area.
