35 year old pleads guilty to burglary of recently deceased man's home

Nigel Dexter, 35, pleaded guilty to the burglary of a house of a man who had recently died in Kettering.

The burglary occurred on January 28th 2022, where he was found inside the house by the deceased's sister.

Dexter was holding a laptop which had belonged to the house's owner, but dropped it once spotted. Dexter escaped through the ground floor window he used to enter the property.

The sister of the deceased had noticed some jewellery and Star Wars figures were now missing. Dexter would later sell one of the pieces of jewellery, a gold ring, for £100.

Lead Investigator – PC Keith Doyle, said: “The woman who found Nigel Dexter in her brother’s home was going through enough as a result of her grief and Dexter’s actions only succeeded to heighten her distress.

“I am really pleased that Dexter has pleaded guilty to this offence and I hope he spends some time reflecting on his actions in order to move forward and make better life choices."

Dexter would plead guilty to burglary on 20th February at Northampton Magistrates Court. He'll return there for sentencing on 24th March.
