Class A drug dealer sent to prison

A 35-year-old man has been handed a stretch in prison after being found guilty of Class A drug dealing offences which involved importing cocaine into the UK from Jamaica.

An investigation into Aundray Brown, previously of Lincoln Road, Northampton, started in May 2020 when a package that had come from Jamaica and was destined for him at an address in Grange Park, Northampton, was intercepted at East Midlands Airport.

The package was found to contain a number of t-shirts and hidden around them was 112g of cocaine with an estimated value of £7000 - £11000.

Further enquiries then uncovered that Brown had successfully managed to get two other parcels of a similar weight delivered to the same address months earlier.

On May 11, 2022, a warrant was executed at his home address in Lincoln Road, Northampton, where Brown was also located and arrested.

Inside the property, police went on to find digital weighing scales with traces of white powder, weapons including knives and machetes, and several mobile phones.

These phones were later analysed and found to contain evidence that Brown was involved in the supply of both cocaine and heroin.

Brown was charged with being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of prohibition of cocaine, offering to supply cocaine and offering to supply heroin.

Earlier this year, he was convicted of the offences and sentenced at Northampton Crown Court to five years and four months.

Detective Constable Scott Allan, said: “I welcome the sentence handed to Aundray Brown and I hope he will spend his time behind bars reflecting on the choices he has made so far in life in order to make better ones when he is released from prison.

“Tackling drugs and the serious and organised crime that sits behind it, is a matter of priority for Northamptonshire Police and I hope this case demonstrates that fact.

“People often think drugs are a victimless crime but there is huge amount of exploitation behind it that results in numerous people suffering. We will continue working hard therefore to get more good results like this one and bring more drug dealers to justice.”
