Fifth week of action and the focus is back on Drug Harm

The police are now into their fifth #Matters of Priority week of action and it is Drug Harm that will once again be under the spotlight.

The latest week of activity will be led by Detective Chief Inspector Steve Watkins, who is organising another seven days of relentless enforcement activity, awareness-raising, prevention work, community engagement and enforcement activity.

DCI Watkins said: “This is our second week targeting drug harm across Northamptonshire and we have planned in a wide range of activities alongside our partner agencies, all designed to disrupt those who deal drugs and cause so much harm to communities and drive-up criminal activity by those needing money to buy drugs.

“In addition to some very significant enforcement action, there will be leaflet drops, community engagement and the Beat Bus will be out on patrol.

“As well as putting out news and video releases on social media of some of the enforcement activity, we will be publishing photos of suspects who are wanted on outstanding warrants and details of the number of prisoners brought into custody who have tested positive for drugs.”

Support will also be provided by the Special Constabulary and our Emergency Service Cadets.

DCI Watkins added: “This is going to be another really busy week and we will be keeping the public fully up to speed around the activities we have planned.

This week is the fifth in a 12-week surge to tackle Northamptonshire Police’s four matters of priority - violence against women and girls, drug harm, serious and organised crime, and serious violence.
