Fun day of activities for young people organised by CIRV

At the beginning of this week (August 22), an event was held at the Great Billing Pocket Park off Penfold Lane in Northampton, which saw over 125 young people gather for a fun day of activities.

The event was part of a programme organised by PC Junior Anderson, who works for CIRV (Community Initiative to Reduce Violence), and was attended by officers from Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The Mayor - Dennis Meredith, was also in attendance and took part in some of the activities as well, including a good old-fashioned game of rounders.

Goodwill Solutions donated crates of Marks and Spencer sandwiches for refreshments as part of the day.

PC Anderson said: “These events are always popular and it was great to see so many young people and their families interacting and having an enjoyable day together.

“The summer holidays are quite long and so it’s important to give young people something to do during them and this event was the perfect day.

“It also provides a good opportunity for CIRV to attend and engage with the children and families in attendance. We received really positive feedback and I look forward to the next one.”

Detective Sergeant Dina Sunderland added: “This was a great day and I just want to thank Junior who organises and attends these events in his own time. His commitment to these young people is really heart-warming.”
