Ninth week of action and the focus is back on Drug Harm

Northamptonshire Police’s 12 weeks of action focussed on the Force’s Matters of Priority continue this week with the spotlight shining on Drug Harm for the third time this summer.

We know that illegal drugs destroy lives and there’s a clear connection between drug dealing and other crimes such as theft and violence.

Chief Inspector Tom Thompson is taking the helm as the Force focusses on those people who commit drug-related crime.

He said: “Tackling the harm related to illegal drugs is a priority for Northamptonshire Police, as set out by the Chief Constable earlier this year.

“This week we’ll have officers across the county targeting those individuals we believe are involved in drug-related crime.

“We are also relaunching Op Revive, our hard-hitting enforcement campaign which focuses on bringing the offenders of serious violence associated with Class A drug dealing and gangs to justice.

“Previously this work has been targeted at those gangs operating in Wellingborough, however we will be extending this more widely to neighbouring towns, including the eastern district of Northampton.

“Op Revive sees us work closely with partners in other agencies, including our local councils, housing providers and local community groups. This multi-agency response means we’re able to take a holistic approach to tackling a problem, with each agency using its own powers to tackle the problems that sit alongside drug dealing and the associated violence.

“My message to those involved in Class A drug dealing and the violence associated with it, is, don’t sleep easy as we’ll be paying you a visit soon.”
