Donald Trump launches foul-mouthed tirade at Norway - as 'number one fan' Nicki Minaj attends rally

Nicki Minaj said Donald Trump "has given us a future to look forward to" as she joined the US president on stage at a rally in Michigan.

The event was being held to boost Republican candidates ahead of the US midterm elections.

Welcoming the 43-year-old to the stage, Mr Trump described Minaj as the "queen of rap" and hailed her for being "with me from day one".

Wearing a gold Gucci suit, the Anaconda rapper started her speech by chanting: "We love Trump. We love Trump."

"I am so honoured to be working with this president," she continued. "He represents resilience."

Minaj, who arrived in Michigan on Air Force One, added: "So many people were maybe giving up a little bit, maybe a little bit hopeless. And since he's come back, he's changed the energy of our country and given us a future to look forward to."

"She never looked more beautiful," Mr Trump said as the rapper exited the stage.

Earlier at the event, the US president had singled Minaj out after praising Ohio senator Jon Husted's figure.

"By the way, I looked at a beautiful ass before," he said. "Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss."

The president signalled for the rapper to stand up, before adding: "I hope Nicki wasn't insulted, but we love Nicki."

It is not the first time Minaj has publicly shown her support for the US president.

In January, she backed Mr Trump's claim that Christians were being "targeted" in Nigeria and has labelled herself his "number one fan".

At Sunday (25 October) evening's rally in Port Huron, about an hour north of Detroit, Mr Trump ramped up his anti-Muslim rhetoric against the Democrats' progressive Senate candidate Abdul el-Sayed, portraying him as a threat to national security.

He also questioned Mr el-Sayed's loyalty to the United States - which has drawn sharp criticism from a former top Arab American ally, Arab Americans for Trump founder Bishara Bahbah.

Mr Trump called Mr el-Sayed a "jihadist" who was "on the side of the terrorists" and would "have to go through a metal detector before he's allowed to go into the Senate".

Mr el-Sayed, who would become the nation's first Muslim senator if elected, has called attacks on his loyalty to the US "shameful" and repeatedly denied any links to extremist groups.

Mr Trump also attacked Norway, calling it a "s***house country" and ‌saying Norwegian immigrants were not welcome in the US "because I didn't get the Nobel Prize". The Nobel committee is based in Oslo.

Mr Trump also predicted that the US-Canada trade dispute would be resolved "soon", without going into specifics.

The US president and other speakers reiterated the position that higher tariffs on Canadian goods are necessary because Canada "has been ripping off" the US in trade.
