Residents, community representatives, faith leaders and civic dignitaries gathered on Sunday 18 October at St Peter’s Church, Brackley, for a Civic Service hosted by Cllr Fiona Baker, Chairman of West Northamptonshire Council (WNC).
The service brought together people from across the area to reflect on the importance of service, community and supporting others.
Highlights of the service included the civic procession led by the Royal British Legion Brackley, accompanied by organ music from Jacinta Holden, and a beautiful performance of Hallelujah by Jennah Withers.
Guests heard about the Chairman’s chosen charities, The Spring Charity and New Leaf Learning, which support children, young people and families across Northamptonshire. The service also included hymns, readings, prayers and an address from Rev. Rich Duncan and Rev, Sylvia Lafford, focusing on service to others and the responsibility and privilege of serving our communities.
Commenting on the event, Cllr Fiona Baker said: "It was a privilege to welcome so many people to St Peter's Church for this year's Civic Service. I am grateful to everyone who attended and supported my chosen charities. The service was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the strength of our communities and recognise the importance of serving others."
Following the service, guests were invited to enjoy refreshments and continue conversations with fellow attendees, helping to strengthen connections across communities throughout West Northamptonshire.
