People across West Northamptonshire are being asked for their views on a new plan to make roads safer.

West Northamptonshire Council has launched a public consultation on its draft Road Safety Strategy, which sets out how it wants to improve road safety up to 2045.
The strategy looks at ways to reduce deaths and serious injuries on the roads. It also aims to help people feel safer when walking, cycling, riding a horse, motorcycle or driving.
The Council wants to hear from as many people as possible before the consultation closes on Sunday 6 December 2026.
Recent figures show that 134 people were killed or seriously injured on local roads in West Northamptonshire in 2025. The draft strategy includes plans to tackle speeding, improve safety for children and vulnerable road users, and work more closely with local communities and partner organisations.
Cllr Richard Butler, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: "Everyone should be able to travel safely, no matter how they choose to do it.
"Too many people are still being killed or seriously injured on our roads. We want to do everything we can to prevent that from happening.
"This strategy sets out our ideas for making roads safer, but we want to hear what people think.
“Your views will help us shape the final plan, so I would urge everyone to take part in the consultation."
People can read the draft strategy and complete the online survey on the Council’s consultation pages. A virtual drop-in session will also be held on 23 November from 10am to 11.30am, where residents can ask questions and find out more about the proposals. Email LocalTransportPlan@westnorthants.gov.uk if you wish to take part.
Feedback from the consultation will be used to help prepare the final strategy, which will be considered by Cabinet in spring 2027.
