Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) is encouraging people across the county to take part in HIV Testing Week by accessing free, confidential and easy HIV testing.
HIV can affect anyone, at any stage of life, and early testing remains one of the most effective ways to protect your health and prevent onward transmission. NHFT, in partnership with North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council, provides a range of testing options so people can choose the approach that best suits them. This includes local clinic appointments, community-based sessions and discreet postal kits delivered directly to their home.
We want everyone across Northamptonshire to feel confident accessing HIV testing. Our services are free, confidential and designed to meet your needs with sensitivity and respect. Testing is simple, quick and can make a significant difference to your health and peace of mind.Dr Sophie Herbert, Consultant Physician in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Full details about available testing options can be found at the Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust website.
Reducing stigma and encouraging conversationsMisconceptions and stigma remain common barriers to HIV testing. NHFT is encouraging people to share accurate information with their family and friends, helping to support those who would benefit from getting a test.
HIV Testing Week is an important reminder that looking after your health should feel and be simple and supported. We have made West Northamptonshire a place where testing is more accessible, respectful and free from stigma, so everyone can take that step with confidence.Cllr Laura Couse, Cabinet Member for Adult Care, Public Health and Regulatory Services at West Northamptonshire Council
