An injury time equaliser by Elliott List saw Northampton take a point after a 1-1 draw away at Accrington Stanley.
List’s goal cancelled out an early strike by Stanley’s Charlie Warren to give the Cobblers a share of the points at the Wham Stadium as they swiped a point.
The draw continued an encouraging run for Chris Hogg’s side as they are now on a run of just one defeat in their last five, although they now sit in 20th place.
Things started badly for Northampton on their visit to a Stanley side unbeaten in their previous seven games as they fell behind within five minutes. Tyler Walton sent in a dangerous cross and Warren duly met it to get the goal to give Accrington the advantage.
Northampton spent much of the first half on the back-foot, with the home side’s David Tutonda and Donald Love having efforts blocked on the line and Warren having a strike deflected wide.
Love would miss an effort in the early stages of the second half when he was picked out by Alex Henderson at the back post.
Northampton improved as the second half wore on, with the Cobblers having a penalty appeal rejected before Owen Dale and Matty Warhurst had efforts miss the target and their closest effort saw Tyrese Fornah’s strike blocked on the line.
In the final minutes of the contest, Northampton would find themselves level. In the second minute of stoppage time, a long clearance by Zach Jeacock wound up with List, who was able to charge forward then drill a low shot beyond the keeper to bag the Cobblers their equaliser.
The Cobblers will look to return to winning ways on Tuesday night as they welcome Oldham Athletic to Sixfields.
