Luton Town made it three home wins in a row as they recorded a 3-1 win over Doncaster at Kenilworth Road.
A Callum Marshall penalty and two strikes by Jamie Donley did the job for Jack Wilshere’s side as they recorded a third home win in the space of seven days, with Bayley McCann scoring a late consolation for Rovers.
The goal saw Luton maintain their improved form, with the Hatters rising up to 8th place in the table a point behind the League One play-off positions.
Having won against Barnsley and Leicester, Luton were looking to make it three wins in three when they welcomed Rovers to Kenilworth Road.
Doncaster arrived off the back of victory over Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday and nearly struck first when Neill Byrne headed off target from close range.
Luton then began to up their intensity, with Marshall firing a strike wide before Jake Richards was denied by away keeper Tommy Simkin and the Hatters had a goal from a double-deflected Donley free-kick disallowed for a foul by Mads Andersen.
A penalty would ultimately open the deadlock in Luton’s favour. Jamie Sterry pulled Kasey Palmer’s shirt in the box, giving the home side a penalty that Marshall duly converted for his second goal in as many games.
Donley then extended Luton’s lead in the opening minutes of the second half, as the Spurs loanee received Richards’ pass and powered a strike home.
The hosts would push in search of a third, with Simkin denying Richards before Marshall, Tudor Mendel and Palmer all had shots that missed the target.
A further goal for Luton ultimately came after 72 minutes as Doncaster failed to fully deal with Richards’ cross and Donley duly converted.
Doncaster would grab a goal for their efforts in the 83rd minute as substitute McCann saw a looping header deceive James Shea and find its way home.
But the Hatters would take the points, making it four wins in five as they continue their climb up the table. Wilshere’s side will look to go for a fourth win on the spin next time out when they play Peterborough United.
