Police officers are appealing for help to trace the owners of a Lurcher dog following an incident in Northampton.
At about 1pm on Wednesday, June 1, a man and his two dogs were walking around Stauntons Pits, near Sixfields.
He walked past a couple and their dog once, however the second time they passed each other, the couple’s lurcher grabbed one of the man’s miniature Dachshunds around the middle.
As a result of the incident, the small dog sustained several puncture wounds which required veterinary treatment, whilst the man was also bitten on his hand as he intervened.
The owners of the brindle Lurcher are described as a man and woman in their mid-60s. The man was about 5ft 11in with short wavy grey hair and a beard. The woman was about 5ft 6in with shoulder length white hair.
Officers are keen to trace the owners and would like to hear from them or anyone who may recognise the description of the couple or their dog.
Anyone with information which could assist with this investigation is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
