A 55-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in Cyril Street, Northampton.
The incident happened just before 2pm yesterday (August 13) when police officers received reports that a woman had been stabbed and a member of the public who had intervened had also received injuries.
The woman was taken to hospital where she continues to receive treatment though thankfully her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The member of the public was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged with minor injuries.
The 55-year-old man who has been arrested in connection with these incidents is also currently in hospital, being treated for stab wounds.
Detectives are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with this incident but are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident but has not yet come forward to contact them on 101 using reference number 22000469609.
Police officers are satisfied that this was an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to members of the public however extra police patrols will continue to be in this area of Northampton today to reassure the local community.
