The incident happened on Wednesday, June 8, between 8.30pm and 9pm, when an unknown accelerant was used to start a fire in the disused building.
Officers are keeping an open mind as to whether the incident is linked to similar incidents of arson in the Rushden and Wellingborough area in the past few weeks.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the fire in North Street, or any of the other fires that have been started deliberately in recent weeks, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
Please be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police who are working in partnership with the Arson Reduction Team and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
