Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service have unfortunately made the decision to postpone tomorrow’s (June 27) Firefighter Challenge event at the University of Northampton.
Over recent days, temperatures have steadily risen and with an amber weather warning now in place across Northamptonshire, conditions are expected to place additional strain on both participants and spectators.
After carefully reviewing guidance from the Met Office, UKHSA, and England Athletics, we feel like this is the correct decision to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
Our priority must always be people’s health, safety, and wellbeing. We know how much this event means to so many, from the dedicated Firefighter Challenge teams who have worked tirelessly to make the event possible, to our valued competitors, our hosts at The University of Northampton, sponsors and the supporters who were looking forward to cheering them on.
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make this event possible and we will work with our Firefighter Challenge Team to try and find a new date for the event to take place.
