Police in Milton Keynes have made a further appeal regarding rape and an attempted rape that happened in the city.
The appeal is a follow-up to an original appeal issued last week when Thames Valley Police issued an image of a man they wanted to speak to in connection with the rape of a woman and the attempted rape of a second woman in Conniburrow in September.
Officers investigating these incidents would now like to hear from anyone who lives in the Conniburrow, Bradwell, Bradwell Common, Linford Wood and Heelands areas, and any additional areas shown on the attached map with Ring Doorbell footage, CCTV or dash cam footage of a man on a bicycle on Wednesday 23 September between 8pm and 11pm.
Thames Valley Police confirmed that they have arrested a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Milton Keynes, on suspicion of rape and attempted rape in connection with these incidents. They have been released from police custody on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Graeme Williams, of Milton Keynes’ Criminal Investigation Department, said, “We appreciate that news of these incidents will have caused concern to local residents, and I would like to reassure you that we are following every line of enquiry available to us in order to bring whoever is responsible to justice.
“Both women are being supported by officers and we remain in contact with them. Based on the information available to us at the current time, we do not believe these incidents to be linked to any other offences in the area.
“Since these incidents were first reported to us we have been carrying out a range of comprehensive enquiries, including house to house and CCTV scoping in the area.
“In addition to the appeal we issued last week, which included an image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with these incidents, we would now like to hear from anyone with Ring Doorbell that may have captured him between the hours of 8pm and 11pm on 23 September in the areas pictured on the attached map.
If you recognise the man in the images, or have any footage that may assist our enquiries, you can call Thames Valley Police on 101 quoting reference 43260474579. Alternatively, you can report via the police force’s website.
