A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for stormy weather in the Milton Keynes area tomorrow (23/10).
Storm Austen, which is the first named storm of the European wind season, is forecast to bring heavy rain and strong wind to much of England on Friday.
The warning is in place from 10am to 9pm tomorrow, with a spell of strong winds, touching gales at times, associated with Storm Austen, forecast to appear in such a way that may bring some localised impacts.
Guidance by the Met Office advises that some short-term loss of power and other services is possible, while it’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely, while it is probably the case that some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.
While the inland region is not forecast to receive the strongest of the winds, speeds in excess of 40mph are expected when the storm peaks.
Further strong wind and rain is forecast on Saturday, although a yellow warning has not as of yet (8:15pm on 22/10) has been issued for the Buckinghamshire area.
